Treat your pup and pay it forward!
Between August 1 and August 17, for every bag of Kona’s Canine Cookies ordered online, we’ll donate $1 to A Forever Home.
In 2006, I attended an AFH adoption event and met Tiny, a small, scared little Boston Terrier mix. Today, he is my BFF (best furry friend) and his name is Bandit. Our Dog Days of Summer Benefit is our way of saying “Thank You.”
About Kona’s Canine Cookies
Kona’s Canine Cookies is a small home-based business, focused on providing your pets with fresh, wholesome, healthy snacks.
Our treats are vegetarian and gluten-free. We don’t add salt, sugar, flavorings, preservatives or colorings. There are only two main ingredients: rice flour and oatmeal. After baking, the treats are dehydrated to add crunch and help extend the freshness. Each 4-oz bag has approximately 15-17 cookies that are just larger than a quarter.
The cookies are packaged in an environmentally friendly bag that is made of recycled material and that can be reused or recycled.
$6/bag or 3 bags/$15.00. Plus $5.00 shipping, regardless of number of bags ordered

To our friends in the northern Virginia area:
Check out our ad on the NOVA Dog website and let us know what you think.
First, let me admit that I am a “technosaur”: a soon-to-be-extinct individual who has failed to evolve with technology.
So my question to the blog world is this: What social media do you use to promote your business?
Kona’s Canine Cookies has a website, a blog, a Facebook page, and I (Lisa Hayes) have a LinkedIn account. Are there other tools I should be using to build my dog treat business?
Any input is welcome.
Wishing Bandit a speedy recovery. While on his morning walk, he hurt his leg and mom had to carry him home. Fortunately only about a block. He is doing better but still can’t put his full weight on it.
Kona’s Canine Cookies has always been natural – we use fresh, wholesome products that contain no preservatives or added ingredients.
And now we’re taking it one step further. We are going to use only organic — and when possible, locally sourced — products. Organic rice flour, oats, peanut butter, and vegetables.
Why? Because we believe it is the right thing to do not only for our pets but also for our planet. We hope you agree.
And remember, our treats are also gluten-free and vegetarian.
Remember to stop by Out of Site Wines Spring Fling tomorrow to sample Kona’s Canine Cookies — and then join me for an evening of music with disappear fear at Jammon Java — all right here in Vienna!
We’re having a Yappy Hour at Out of Site Wines in Vienna next Saturday, April 12, from 1-4 pm.
Stop by to say hi, try some of their wine and then let your four-legged friend sample a Kona Canine Cookie. We’ll have a few bags on hand for sale, as well as information on how to sign up for a monthly treat subscription through the wine store.
Hope to see you there.
We here at Kona’s Canine Cookies are considering a new ordering option: a subscription. This would be like a “treat of the month” club in which you could place a standing order for regular monthly delivery. You would pick the type of treats and the number of bags, as well as the length of the subscription. For example, you could choose to have two bags of peanut butter treats delivered for the next six months.
We’re still pondering the details, but wanted to put the idea out there and get some feedback from Kona’s friends and customers. Comments? Thoughts?
We’ve seen way too many articles about the bad things that go into pet food and pet treats. Whether it’s fillers and additives or potentially tainted chicken, there are some things that definitely should not be in your pet’s treats.
At Kona’s Canine Cookies, we use only wholesome ingredients: rice flour and oats. Then we add peanuts or fresh fruits and veggies.
Oh, but we do add one filler. A large helping of love.
Please help us spread the word about our treats by liking and sharing our Facebook page.
What? Snow tomorrow? Up to six inches? Better stock up on bread, milk and … dog treats.
If you’re in the Vienna, VA area, stop by the Maple Avenue Market or The Artful Gift Shop to pick up a bag or two of Kona’s Canine Cookies. And if you’re not in the area, don’t worry. You can place an order through our website and your treats will be on the way soon. A snowy day sounds like a good time for baking treats, so we’ll have lots of fresh, homemade goodies for your favorite pup ready to go very soon.
Take care and stay warm!
